ABOUT BEYOND THRIVE
A consultancy built around
how change actually happens.
Beyond Thrive exists to help organisations see, understand and change the conditions that shape outcomes for people with complex needs — so that support becomes more consistent, more effective and less reliant on restriction.
WHY BEYOND THRIVE EXISTS
The gap is not usually knowledge.
It is the distance between intention and what is consistently delivered in practice.
Across health, education and social care, the same pattern repeats. Assessments are completed. Recommendations are written. Training is delivered. Good people work hard. Yet the gap between intention and everyday practice often remains.
Beyond Thrive was created to focus on that gap. Not to add more guidance to services that already have plenty, but to examine what is actually preventing progress — and to work alongside the people involved to change it.
THE PERSON BEHIND BEYOND THRIVE
David Corcoran
Chartered Psychologist · Founder and Director, Beyond Thrive
David has spent more than 30 years working across health, education and social care — supporting autistic people, people with learning disabilities, and the families, teams and organisations around them. His work has always focused on the space between what services intend and what they are actually able to deliver.
His approach is shaped by a single organising principle: understanding before action. Whether working with a family, a service or a commissioner, the starting point is always to understand what is actually happening before trying to change it. That principle runs through the Thrive Compass, through every assessment, and through the way Beyond Thrive approaches the work.

HOW THE WORK IS APPROACHED
Problem-led. Conditions-focused.
Designed for real life.
Beyond Thrive does not start with a pre-defined package. Work begins with the problem as it actually presents — a person whose situation is not improving, a service where practice is inconsistent, a decision that needs a clearer basis. The work is always grounded in understanding what is happening and why, before considering what should change.
Solutions are developed with implementation in mind. A recommendation that cannot be followed under real working conditions does not change outcomes. The focus is on what can be understood, followed and sustained — by the people who will actually deliver it.
