Rapid Stabilisation & Risk Reduction

Helping teams create shared understanding, coordinated responses, and practical plans that reduce escalation.

Suitable for

This support is particularly helpful when:

  • Incidents are increasing in frequency, intensity or complexity.

  • Responses vary between staff, teams or organisations, creating uncertainty or inconsistency.

  • There is a growing risk of placement breakdown, exclusion, admission or family burnout.

  • Professionals are struggling to reach a shared understanding of risk or agree what should happen next.

  • Existing plans are no longer producing consistent outcomes or reducing escalation.

  • A clear, coordinated approach is needed before difficulties become a crisis.

When Rapid Stabilisation is needed

  • Rapid Stabilisation & Risk Reduction is designed for situations where risk is increasing, responses are becoming inconsistent, or professionals need a shared plan before difficulties escalate further.

What you will come away with

Shared understanding

Using the Thrive Compass™ Escalation Cycle, everyone develops a common understanding of escalation, early indicators and stage-based responses.

Consistent decisions

Teams use clear stage-based guidance to recognise escalation earlier and make more consistent decisions.

Coordinated action

Everyone understands their role, how information is shared and how decisions are coordinated.

Practical implementation

A clear Stabilisation Plan turns shared understanding into agreed actions that can be applied in everyday practice.

Continuous learning

Structured review points help teams understand what is improving and where the plan needs refining.

Sustainable practice

Practical prompts, summaries and implementation tools help agreed ways of working become everyday practice.

How we work

1. Understand the situation
We begin by building a shared understanding of the current situation, including patterns of escalation, key risks and the people involved.

2. Build a shared picture
Using the Thrive Compass™ Escalation Cycle, we help everyone recognise how escalation develops and agree a common language for responding.

3. Develop a practical plan
Together, we create a clear, stage-based Stabilisation Plan that sets out priorities, agreed responses and practical actions for each stage.

4. Support implementation
Where needed, we provide targeted implementation support to help teams apply the plan consistently in everyday practice.

5. Review and strengthen
We review what is improving, identify where support is drifting and refine the plan to help progress continue over time.

We focus on implementation:

Turning complex risk and multi-agency views into a shared, stage-based plan that teams can use consistently day-to-day.

Levels of support

Every organisation starts in a different place. These three levels allow support to be proportionate to the level of risk, complexity and implementation required. Each level can be commissioned independently.

Level 1 — Stabilisation Core Creating a shared understanding and a practical plan to reduce escalation and restore stability. WHAT'S INCLUDED Thrive Compass™ Escalation Cycle Workshop Together, we develop a shared understanding of how escalation develops, what early indicators look like, and how responses should change at each stage. This helps everyone recognise risk earlier and respond more consistently. PRACTICAL STABILISATION PLAN A clear, stage-based plan that sets out agreed actions, priorities and responses for each stage of escalation, including what to avoid if it may unintentionally increase pressure. CLEAR ROLES AND COORDINATED WORKING Everyone understands their role, how information is shared, and how decisions are coordinated across the wider support network. IMPLEMENTATION RESOURCES Practical summaries, prompts and tools that help the agreed approach become part of everyday practice rather than remaining a written document. SUITABLE FOR Organisations, teams or families who need a shared understanding of escalating risk and a practical plan they can implement confidently within existing resources.

Level 2 — Supported Implementation Helping teams use the plan consistently through structured implementation support WHAT'S INCLUDED? Everything included in Level 1, plus: IMPLEMENTATION AND SUPERVISION COACHING Targeted support for leaders and key staff to build confidence, strengthen decision-making and promote consistent use of the agreed approach. PRACTICE LEADERSHIP SUPPORT Structured guidance to establish reliable routines, reinforce what good practice looks like and address implementation challenges as they arise. REVIEW AND REFINEMENT Planned review points to identify what is improving, where implementation is drifting and what adjustments are needed to maintain progress. RESPONSIVE IMPLEMENTATION ADVICE Ongoing guidance to help teams adapt the plan if circumstances change or risks begin to increase. SUITABLE FOR Organisations and teams that want support to implement the plan consistently, strengthen day-to-day practice and build confidence across the workforce. Implementation Support focuses on consistency, capability and sustained practice. It is not an open-ended crisis response service.

Level 3 — Intensive Implementation & Handover Hands-on implementation support where risk is high, stability is fragile, or consistent implementation cannot safely be achieved without additional support. WHAT'S INCLUDED Everything included in Levels 1 and 2, plus: INTENSIVE IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT We work alongside teams to put the agreed approach into practice through modelling, coaching in context and real-time problem-solving as challenges arise. PRACTICE LEADERSHIP IN ACTION Leaders receive structured support to build confidence, strengthen decision-making and establish the routines needed to sustain consistent practice across teams. RESPONSIVE PLAN DEVELOPMENT The Stabilisation Plan is reviewed and refined as implementation progresses, ensuring it remains proportionate, practical and responsive to changing circumstances. HANDOVER AND SUSTAINABILITY We agree clear competence expectations, identify early signs of implementation drift and provide a structured handover so the organisation can maintain progress with confidence after the intensive phase ends. SUITABLE FOR Organisations and teams where risk is high, stability is fragile, or implementing the agreed approach without intensive support would be unsafe, unrealistic or unlikely to be sustained.

What happens next

Following a short scoping conversation, we recommend the level of support that best matches your current level of risk, complexity and implementation needs.

Level 1 is a fixed workshop and planning package. Levels 2 and 3 are tailored to the level of implementation support required and are priced according to the agreed scope of work.

Rapid Stabilisation & Risk Reduction provides structured implementation support rather than an emergency crisis response service. Where safeguarding thresholds are met, statutory responsibilities and emergency procedures remain in place.

If you would like to explore whether this support is the right fit, the next step is a short scoping conversation. Together, we'll understand your current situation, discuss your priorities, and recommend the level of support most likely to help you achieve sustainable improvement.
